Nature should be a priority!

Organizations, no matter their profile (public, private for profit or not for profit), must integrate into their policies the concept of social responsability as a core-value. Organizations are part of local communities, in spite of all the globalization tendencies. From this point of view, every organization, beyond its interest for profit or specific goals, must and should take into consideration all the actors that compose the external organizational environment. Preserving nature must be defined as a dimension of the concept of  social responsability. Please, discover Romania exactaly how it is, by clicking here!!!

Benchmarking – an useful tool for improving organizational effectiveness

My  suggestion for this week would certainly be “benchmarking”

Benchmarking is the process by which an organization learns how to improve its effectiveness and its performance. Benchmarking first appeared at the beggining of the 80, in the private for profit sector. Xerox company faced severe problems concerning major market share loss and increasing levels of competition. Top management was forced to come up with a quick solution to solve company’s difficult situation. Benchmarking was the answer they found – seeking the best practice in the specific field, measuring and collecting data, comparing facts, adopting and adapting/transferring policies and work processes to their own organizational arrangements. Soon after benchmarking turned out to be a very useful tool for managers in their continuing search for better results. Benchmarking does not reffer to copy-paste organizational procedures or work processes, does not reffer to industrial theft. Benchmarking is not easy and quick.

One can apply benchmarking not only to private for profit organization, but also to private nonprofit organizations and to public organizations. If you are interested in learning more about how this tool can help your business improvement or your organizational development, just send you comments or questions at ghancean@yahoo.com.
