How important reputation is?

At the height of his wealth and success, the financier Baron de Rothschild was petitioned for a loan by an acquaintance. Reputedly, the great man replied, “I won’t give you a loan myself; but I will walk arm-in-arm with you across the floor of the Stock Exchange, and you soon shall have willing lenders to spare” (Cialdini, 1989, p. 45 apud Kilduff, M., Krackhardt, 2008, “Interpersonal Networks in Organizations”, New York: Cambridge University Press, p.2)

About International Network for Social Network Analysis

INSNA is the professional association for researchers interested in social network analysis. The association is a non-profit organization incorporated in the state of Delaware and founded by Barry Wellman in 1978.

The principal functions of INSNA are as follows:

  • INSNA publishes Connections, a bulletin containing news, scholarly articles, technical columns, and abstracts and book reviews.
  • INSNA sponsors the annual International Social Networks Conference (also known as Sunbelt).
  • INSNA maintains electronic services:
    • www.insna.org with features including discussion forums, I-Connect, bibliographies, publications, and much more.
    • SOCNET, a ListServ electronic discussion forum, and a link to REDES, a Spanish language network Listserv.
  • INSNA maintains a database of information on members, selling a mailing list to selected publishers and educators.
  • INSNA provides a way to subscribe to the journal of Social Networks, published by Elsevier.
